Saya (Blood+)
The Source
I quite liked the Blood+ tv series in high school and made Saya because it was inexpensive (<$20) and comfy. :3
Much like how Motoko is wildly different in each of her franchise mediums, Saya differs a lot as well. The thing they all share is a dark-haired school girl with a sword who kills monsters…while being related in some way to them herself.
Blood TLV OVA: I have sort of mixed feelings about the strange character art style, but definitely appreciate the aesthetic and setting. This Saya is a stone cold killer who does basically nothing but that in her 45 minute runtime.
Blood-C: At some point I’ll get around to watching it despite its reputation as a trainwreck if just because the color scheme/outfits are very appealing and this Saya’s physical resemblance to me is a bit uncanny.
Blood+: A bit slowpaced, but still a very comfy watch. Also the occasional serious “wtf” moment I can still remember decades on. Saya has good growth over time. I’m not sure I’d watch it again, but I liked it a lot when I was younger. I still listen to the OPs from time to time because they are as catchy as they are nostalgic.
The Costume (2005-2006)
I bought a boy’s shirt from walmart since everything in the women’s section was too big and/or had some “stylish” nonsense added to it. I made the bow out of red cotton and the skirt out of black “rodeo” poly-cotton from Jo-Ann’s. Shoes were from the thrift store.
