Cosplay and Sewing Tutorials 📌

Ryuuraigeki Tutorials Archive

From 2008–2010, I wrote a series of cosplay and sewing tutorials under the “ryuuraigeki” handle that circulated fairly widely in the American cosplay community. These were originally posted to LiveJournal (with images hosted on Photobucket) and occasionally presented at local convention panels. Photo-heavy tutorials like this were far less common before smartphones made photo uploads frictionless. I was taking photos with a basic point-and-shoot camera, transferring them to a computer over a USB cable, resizing them in Photoshop, uploading them to Photobucket, and then hand-assembling the posts one embedded image at a time.

After the death of the LiveJournal era, I migrated them to Instructables in 2015. This had the side effect of introducing them to a wider, more mainstream audience when basically all the bias tape tutorials wound up as featured Instructables.

For a variety of reasons, it is unlikely I will make any more of these, but I have reproduced the most useful ones here for archival/historical purposes. If you’re a return visitor from a previous era, I’m always happy to see photos of things that were made with them. ;)
